  Bratati Saha, an authentic Kathak performer and teacher offering KATHAK Dance classes in Nothern Virginia ( Sterling, Herndon, Reston & Ashburn VA), Washington DC & Dallas/ Fort Worth metroplex.

 

Kathak , an Indian Classical Dance, characterized by rhythmic footwork danced under the weight of more than 100 ankle bells, spectacular spins, and the dramatic representation of themes. The Style includes use of elegant swirls, lightning quick pirouettes, sudden poses and rapid stamping of feet and subtle gestures through which emotions are expressed.

 

Mission of ARPAN:

We at ARPAN dance aim to extend the boundaries of Indian traditional dance and create a new benchmark in the aesthetics of presentation by using state-of-the-art technology and innovative dance techniques.

Qualification:

  • 25 years of combined experience in learning & teaching Kathak.  
  • 5 Year Degree in Kathak ( Sangeet Visharad) from renowned Prachin Kala Kendra of Chandigarh University, with Distinction in 1999.
  • 5  Year Degree in Kathak from renowned Bangiya Sangeet Parisad with Distinction in 1991.

Major Performances and achievments:

  • 2000 -Performed Kathak at Nuremberg, Germany conducted by Indo-German Society.
  • 2006 - Solo performance at North America Bengali Conference (Bongo Sammelan), Houston,TX
  • 2007 -  Performed at International Women Peace Conference
  • 2003 ~ 2007: Dance Director of Academy Bangla Arts & Culture ( http://www.abac-usa.org/ ).
  • 1991 - Ranked 2nd position among the Distinction holders in Kathak of  West Bengal. Conducted by Bangiya Sangeet Parisad. 
  • 1997 - Ranked 3rd position in Kathak Competition of North Bengal in India. 
  • 2001~2007 - Many events in US.
